n8n Activation Rate Limit
What’s happening?
When activating your n8n instance, you may encounter an error caused by a rate limit on n8n’s license server (license.n8n.io). This happens because our hosting infrastructure shares an IP address, and when multiple users attempt activation around the same time, the license server temporarily blocks further requests.
The rate limit appears to be IP-based or email-based, so this isn’t something wrong with your instance — it’s a temporary restriction on the license server side.
How to fix it
- Wait 2 hours and try activating again.
- If it still fails, wait 24 hours and retry.
That’s it — the rate limit will clear on its own.
